Lipocine Wins Health Canada Approval for Oral Testosterone Therapy TLANDO
A Fixed-Dose Oral Option for Canadian Patients
Health Canada approved TLANDO for conditions associated with a deficiency or absence of the body's own testosterone. Unlike injections and topical gels, patients take it by mouth on a fixed dose that does not require titration. "Health Canada's approval of TLANDO means they will have access to a convenient oral option without needing dose titration," said Dr. Mahesh Patel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lipocine.
According to Lipocine, Canadian physicians write more than 700,000 TRT prescriptions each year, and private insurance covers about half of that patient population. Intramuscular injections hold the largest share of those prescriptions, while gels carry a risk of transference to others. Lipocine believes an oral therapy without titration can improve convenience and compliance, and it sees limited promotional activity in the Canadian market as an opening for TLANDO.
How the Partnership Model Works
Lipocine and Verity Pharma signed an exclusive license agreement in January 2024 that gave Verity commercial rights to TLANDO in the United States and Canada. Verity handles regulatory and commercialization work in both markets. Lipocine has also licensed TLANDO in other territories, including Brazil through Ache, the GCC countries through Pharmalink and South Korea through SPC. Pharmalink received marketing authorization in the UAE on July 8, 2026, where the product is sold as TESTYRA.
That structure shows up in Lipocine's results as royalty income. Royalty revenue from TLANDO sales was $190,000 in the second quarter of 2026, up from $123,000 a year earlier. The company continues to explore partners in territories not yet covered.
BLOOM and the Balance Sheet
Lipocine's main development focus is LPCN 1154, an oral form of brexanolone for postpartum depression. In September, the company initiated BLOOM, a placebo-controlled Phase 3 study expected to enroll about 120 participants, with first participant dosing expected in early Q4 2026. The study uses the same 48-hour, at-home dosing regimen as the prior Phase 3 trial, which did not meet its primary endpoint in the full analysis set. Lipocine said post hoc analyses found anomalies concentrated at one high-enrolling site, and BLOOM adds strengthened site and data-quality controls.
Lipocine held $23.3 million in unrestricted cash, cash equivalents and marketable investment securities as of June 30, 2026, and reported a second-quarter net loss of $2.6 million. The company expects average cash use of about $1 million per month during the study and believes its existing resources are sufficient to execute BLOOM.
