Recursion Raises $200 Million as FAP Data and a Sanofi Option Move Its Pipeline Forward
Recursion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: RXRX), a clinical-stage biotechnology company that uses an AI-enabled design platform to discover drugs, announced on October 15, 2026 an oversubscribed $200 million stock offering alongside new clinical data from two programs. On the same day, the company said Sanofi had selected the first development candidate from the two companies’ research collaboration.
Financing Extends Runway Into 2029
The underwritten offering of common stock is expected to raise approximately $200 million in gross proceeds from healthcare and institutional investors, including Adage, ARK, Driehaus, Invus and Janus Henderson Investors. The company did not disclose a price per share in its business update.
Recursion reported approximately $561 million in cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash as of September 30, 2026, a preliminary and unaudited figure. With the net proceeds from the offering, the company expects its cash to fund operations into 2029. That runway covers the next steps it outlined for its two most advanced clinical programs, including a planned registrational trial in 2027.
Najat Khan, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer, said the company has “fundamentally transformed Recursion” over the past 18 months, and that “this financing strengthens our ability to build on that momentum.”
REC-4881 and REC-1245 Clinical Updates
REC-4881 is an oral MEK1/2 inhibitor in development for familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), a hereditary condition that causes polyps throughout the gastrointestinal tract. In the Phase 1b/2 TUPELO study, 87% of patients (13 of 15) had reductions in total polyp burden after 12 weeks of treatment, with a 47% median reduction. Five of the 15 patients saw reductions of 65% or more. Twelve weeks after treatment stopped, 85% of evaluable patients remained below their baseline polyp burden.
On safety, the company reported no treatment-related adverse events above Grade 3. Of 26 patients, 80.8% had treatment-related adverse events of Grade 2 or lower, four patients had Grade 3 events, and four discontinued because of adverse events. Recursion plans a registrational trial in the second half of 2027, pending the outcome of ongoing discussions with the FDA.
The company also updated its Phase 1/2 DAHLIA study of REC-1245, an RBM39 molecular glue in solid tumors. At doses of 45 mg once daily or higher, the study recorded three partial responses and a disease control rate of 91.7% (11 of 12) in heavily pretreated patients with endometrial cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma. Two of the three responses were confirmed. Recursion selected the 45 mg dose for expansion cohorts, including endometrial cancer.
Sanofi Selects First Development Candidate
Sanofi has optioned a potential first-in-class oral small molecule designed to act on two targets linked to inflammatory disease. The companies did not name the targets. Sanofi will fund and lead development and commercialization, with Phase 1 clinical trials expected to begin in 2027.
The option triggered a $10 million milestone payment that Recursion will recognize as revenue in the third quarter of 2026. Payments from Sanofi under the collaboration now total $144 million, and Recursion is eligible for more than $300 million in additional milestones on this program, plus royalties on net sales if the candidate is approved. The collaboration has reached six progress-based milestones across five programs to date.
Alyssa Johnsen, Therapeutic Area Head for Development, Immunology and Inflammation at Sanofi, described the candidate’s “highly selective dual targeting that could be a meaningful advance for people living with inflammatory diseases.”
