In early trading on Friday, shares of American Express topped the list of the day's best performing Dow Jones Industrial Average components, trading up 3.4%. Year to date, American Express registers a 20.0% gain.

And the worst performing Dow component thus far on the day is Procter & Gamble, trading down 2.1%. Procter & Gamble is showing a gain of 5.1% looking at the year to date performance.

Two other components making moves today are Intel, trading down 1.1%, and Chevron, trading up 1.4% on the day.
